SENSES GUIDED BY REASON

Senses are to be handled with care. We have to use our reasoning capacity of our brain to deal with pleasures that attract senses.

A famished, bony dog got a dry beef bone as a meal after a week. In pleasure for taste, it bit the bone hardly with its sharp yellow teeth. Due to hard condition of bone, its slender tongue got injured and it started bleeding. But, the foolish dog thought the taste of blood was from bone and started to enjoy the biting without understanding that it was consuming its blood. At last, the dog died due to loss of blood.

When something generates joy, we should use our head power to research about the joy. Think what happens when a rat succumb to senses with a delicious food in a trap.

Leaders in life are leaders of their senses. Great personalities use reason to guide their life. So only, Great Philosopher Socrates says, “Reason everything before you deal.”

“NATURE” TEACHES US A WAY TO SUCCESS

There were two ants walking leisurely on a wet pond floor with no water. Suddenly, gush of water started to flow into the pond due to breach in dam nearby. In order to save its life, two ants tried to jump from the pond floor. Since, the floor of pond was made of clay; it was sliding whenever it tried to rise. Second ant said, “Friend, we are on the way to death.” First ant replied with courage, “Friend, before we die, at least we show our best.”

But, second ant lost its confidence and died miserably into the stream of water. Courageous ant was trying continuously with determination, until its bristles in leg created a small hole in loose clay for the ant to jump further. Thus, it saved itself.

The ant action has taught us an important rule in life, success is not drifting till destination is reached. Nature is the best teacher to teach us the way towards success. We look into certain deeds of nature which can edify us:

Sun raising morning and drifting down in evening: we haven’t seen the sun disobeying this law. If it does, nature will fail. So, in our life too, we shouldn’t slide towards procrastination. Never drift from planned action.

Formation of fruits: Number of flower is produced to give birth to one fruit. Similarly, not all the action towards our aim results success. But, if we give large number of actions without drifting, definitely any one would yield success.

Survival of fittest: Animals which have modified themselves to manage any difficulties will exist successfully in a ecosystem. Similarly, success will be found by those, who have competence to face big failure, new opportunities, new actions etc,

HANDICAPPED PHYSICALLY, NOT MENTALLY

In order to prevent discrimination between normal and handicapped person, the United Nation initiated a special Olympic games for handicapped people. The sport event was participated by disabled sports personalities from all over the world. In order to encourage participants, various political and public personalities had gathered in the stadium.

During a track event on 100 metres dash, a group of athletes from different parts of world were running to attain their destination. Even with disabilities, they try to show their confidence in game. Unfortunately, one of the participants tumbled and fell down on the track. Understanding some problem to their co-runner, all the athletes who were running before, stopped and returned to help the colleague who had fallen down. All the participant of the 100 metres dash, reached the finished with their hands clasped, depicting the expression that none have lost, but all have won in the game.

The spectators of the event got rejoiced by the humane action and applauded their feeling of brotherhood.

Success is not winning others with our strength, but, winning hearts of others through our character.

POWER OF RICHES

A rich grandfather wanted to identify the best successor of his riches, out of three grandsons. So, he called upon his three grandsons and explained his wish. Since, he didn’t like to split his wealth, he wanted to identify the best one and transfer his wealth to him. So, he devised a test to identify the best of the three. He called upon three and directed, “I will provide each Rs. 10,000 and within one year, who has utilised it in proper direction will be the winner of my wealth.”

Two sons returned before one year period and each exclaimed about their achievement. First son said, “Grandpa, I invested your money in my export business, which is accruing profit.” While second grandson replied, “I earned twenty thousand rupees, by investing in share market.” Grandfather queried about the third son. Second grandson replied, “That foolish brother has joined in a company as an employee.”

Grandpa met third son and enquired about his development. Third son replied, “Grandpa, you provided me sufficient education to make my own living, I consider it as a biggest wealth, you have given me. I am not interested in you wealth. But, I gave new value to your money, which I received from you. I have donated your money to a charity in your name, which will help under-privileged. With my education, I earned 10,000 rupees and that is my yield.”

Third son was selected as the best successor and grandpa explained, “What first and second grandson did was the one, I was doing in my lifetime. But, third grandson taught me a new dimension in the useage of money. That is one I was searching for.”

Value of money is gained, in the direction we use it. Andrew Carnegie says, “We can live with riches, but we shouldn’t die with riches.” Andrew Carnegie is considered as one of the greatest philanthropist in the world, who donated nearly $350,000,000, in early 20th century, a fortune substantially greater in today's dollars.

J.R.D. TATA - CHARISMATIC PERSONALITY

When we are rich with money, we find a place in statistics. When we are rich with character, we get instilled in people’s heart.

They sow seed of money, in order to reap benefit for people. If their motive was money, they would have diminished due to acid test of time. But their motive was to develop people of India, so only they exist as one of largest company for more than a century. They are empires of Tata.

Following Sir Dorabji Tata, son of Sir Jamsetji Tata, Sir Jehangir Ratanji Dababhoy Tata (shortly J.R.D. Tata) took position as a chairman of the Tata & sons, in 1938. Initially, with 14 companies under Tata group, when he started, had grown into 95 companies, when he died during 29th November 1993.

All the predecessors of J.R.D. Tata, where involved in philanthropic activities and valued human power more than money power.

J.R.D. Tata was instrumental in starting many institutions, which aided in development of India, they are:
· The Tata Memorial Centre for Cancer, Research and Treatment, Bombay, 1941
· The Tata Institute of Social Sciences, 1936 (TISS)
· The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, 1945 (TIFR)
· The National Centre for Performing Arts.
· The Indian Airlines (initially started as Tata Airlines)

J.R.D. Tata says, “When we want to win people, we have to win by character and kindness.” He won heart of many people through his humane character.

He always devoted time in designing path for development of India. He was the pioneer in starting “The Family Planning Programme”, before Government of India started officially, when our country was identified as over-populous nation.

He was awarded with highest Indian civilian award, “Bharat Ratna” and in that special speech, he exclaimed, “India will be super-power in forthcoming years, predicts an economist, but I want to see India as one of the happiest nation”.

J.R.D. Tata quotes, “Never start anything with diffidence, but with confidence”.

J.R.D. Tata believed in, “Common people have an appetite for food; uncommon people have an appetite for service”.

J.R.D. Tata’s initiated institution will lend its hand to help people, for years to come. Though he has physically died, but, not mentally in minds of people.

POWER OF FRIENDSHIP

Ram and Krishnan were intimate friends from their kinder garden. Ram was brilliant and studious while Krishnan was weak in studies. Both were so attached that they shared every day happenings with each other. Every time, when report card comes from school, Krishnan would have obtained rank near to class strength. Krishnan’s father is so strict, that he would scold, sometimes, beat him severely.

Days passed, final examination was nearing. Krishnan’s father threatened him that he would admit him hostel, if he fails. On one of the exam, due to ill-preparation, Krishnan took a bit paper with written answer into the exam hall, fearing his father’s words. Ram and Krishnan were sitting side by side in the exam hall. Exam started.

In fear, Krishnan threw the paper aside. But, the invigilator got that bit paper and queried to students, “Who used this paper? Otherwise, whole class have to face the Principal!”. Krishnan was trembling with fear and his hands were shivering. Ram identified Krishnan’s guilty and in order to help him, he rose and cried, “I am the culprit”.

The invigilator took Ram to principal. Meanwhile, Krishnan got worried about Ram’s situation, but due to fear to his father, he tried to answer some question which would fetch some marks to pass.

After exam, Krishnan went to principle’s room to meet Ram. Ram was kneeling down outside the principal’s room. With tears creeping out, Krishnan approached Ram and asked, “Why you incur punishment, what I should deserve?”. Ram replied with friendly smile, “Dear, if you fail, I would miss you, because your father may admit you in hostel. But, if I fail, my prior performance will make me pass or at least, we will study in same school but not in same class”. Moved by friend’s love, Krishnan embraced and said, “My dear friend, never in my life, I will move in wrong direction”.

Principal was listening to this conversation between friends. As recognition to their true friendship, the Principal promoted both Krishnan and Ram to next class.

Friendship not only generates joy, but also develop super-human.

PATH TOWARDS SUCCESS

Why certain people succeed in life, while rest fail miserably. When we observe achievers in industry, sports, politics etc, most of them aren’t high profiled in education. Some of them are even school and college dropouts. What is the reason behind their success?

Is the education alone is sufficient for success? No, says Andrew Carnegie, one of the richest steel-maker in early 20th century. He describes that successful people are embodied with certain character which distinguish them from the rest. They are people with noble character with powerful attitude. Never gave vent to negative influences in their mind.

Visibly, they control external world with their character. Invisibly, they control their mind through attitude. What seems impossible to some seems possible to them.

Are these qualities are inborn? Yes, every human with mind to think has this quality. But, it is not easy to practise.

Successful people design their own path to success, with the guidance of achievers. A.P.J. Abdul kalam says, in order to succeed, we need a dream with vision, dream is not the one we get during sleep, but it is the one which destroys sleep, until our goal is reached.

A small plant asked to an old tree, “How to exist for long time like you?”. The old tree answered, “Rise when condition favourable, never get defeated during unfavourable.”

Finally, success basically depends on our thoughts and actions.

attitude." - W. Clement Stone

DEFEAT – A TUTOR TO SUCCESS

A child enquired to its mother about falling of the sun, “Mom, why this bright sun, which rises up eagerly at the morning, falls disputed in the afternoon!”. Mother answered, “Son, it is not falling but it is rising on other side of the earth”.

Defeat helps in developing our emotional competence. We may fail hundred, thousand, million, or trillion times but we should rise in all failures and run towards our destination. Temporary failure is a teachers or a guide, which instructs, our path towards success is wrong.

When we succeed, change our destination. When we fail, change the direction towards destination.

Many super-achievers had once experienced super-failures. But, each time they fail, they popped up themselves upper from defeat. Thomas Alva Edison failed 10,000 times before the invention of an electric bulb. When enquired about this by his co-worker, he answered, “Each time, when I fail, I learnt one way by which an electric bulb cannot be made”.

When we succeed without failures, we may fail to succeed later.

Positive attitude towards failure plays an important role towards achieving success. Defeat may be temporary or permanent is decided by attitude.

We can fail in task, but we shouldn’t fail to rise during each failure. We haven’t failed, when we introduced to world, through our mother’s womb. Failures discourage a weaker, but encourage a riser.

Remarkable success has ever been achieved without remarkable failures. Success is not winning every war but ultimate battle.

I've come to believe that all my past failure and frustrations were actually
laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new
level of living I now enjoy - Anthony Robbins

NOBLE ACTION WITH ALTRUSTIC VISION

I like to express about my friend who was intelligent in dealing with resources like water, food, money, energy, time, etc.

I queried him, the reason for such character. He replied, “You know, resources saved from dissipation is resources gained. In addition to personal gain, saved resources will be useful to poor people, by some means. This in turns aids in country’s developing!”.

His answer kindled my interest and then I asked, “How your single action alone would affect overall nation’s development?”.

My friend replied, “Dear, I will explain it with a story. A small bird which was taking refuge on a tree lost it, due to forest-fire. In order, to save the forest, the small bird was carrying small quantum of water, which its beak could carry, in order to douse the fire. On seeing this childish action, an old elephant queried, “Child, your action won’t save this forest!”. Small bird replied, “My action at least will show to the world, a possibility”. So, my position is like the bird in the story”.

He continued, “Though my action will make a meagre change, at least, it would make a child to have a calm sleep, through the resources saved. Further, my action would reveal to ignorant hearts with a possibility to save society”.

Water, energy, food, money resources are abundant in our life, but certain unfortunate souls doesn’t have such resources for their daily sustenance. When we look closely, the food, money and energy we save, will be useful to poor people through government or charity.

So, we can conclude that, for personal achievement, we need to control over thought and time, for national development, we need proper utilisation of money, food, water, air.

PURE LOVE IN TENDER HEART

A father was busily engaged with office work in his house. His four year old son was sitting near him and was gazing at his actions. The father felt his son would need something to play. So, he gave a Barbie doll and asked his son to play outside his room. Child rejected. Father couldn’t understand reason about child’s behaviour and he felt disturbed. He provided with baby cycle to play outside his room. Child rejected. He then provided chocolates. But, that too failed. Losing his temper, he spoke harshly, “Why are you disturbing me? What do you want? Go out of this room!” The child replied with its low voice, “I want to be with you”. The father embraced his son, on feeling the expression of his son’s love on him.

POWER OF READING BOOKS

Books can be considered as maker of treasures and destroyer of ignorance. They are store houses of accumulated information, which otherwise would have got destroyed by action of time. An intellectual book stirs up our minds and introduces us with new thoughts which our bounded thinking process cannot determine.

Every great personality have had been a voracious reader of books. They have rose up from ordinary condition to extra-ordinary stage by mixing themselves in good books.

Albert Einstein says, “The main purpose of education is to train the mind to think, for this reason it is priceless”. By devoting ourselves in good books, we add food to our thoughts and make our mind fully occupied. It dispels ignorance, scatters self-imposed limitations, motivates us, etc,
Power of books is that, in addition to thoughts expressed in it, it kindles thinking in readers. This is a reason for large number of books available at present.

Experiences of the people are carved in books:
Nature of books can be explained by small scientific inference. Usually a star exists for 10 billion years. How it is possible to study “the lifecycle of a star”? Since an average life of human is less than 100 years! This is possible by studying large number of stars existing in various stages of their life in universe. So, as a human it seems impossible to learn from our experience and our reasoning about various life experiences because our life time is small. So, by learning the stored information of experienced person in books, we can acquire more knowledge and idea of life.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a pioneer scientist, philosopher, the former president of India specified certain books for youths:
1.Everyday greatness by Stephen R. Covey
2.The weather makers by Tim Flannery
3.Empires of the mind by Danis Waitley
4.Journey into light by G. Venkataraman
5.A brief history of time by Stephen W. Hawking

ANALOGY BETWEEN MANAGEMENT OF AN ORGANISATION AND MIND

Controlling of any organisation requires application of certain laws in management. When we closely observe, these laws can also be applied in controlling action of mind.
Management scientist, Mr. Ganesh Sharma, describes certain factors which when not controlled leads to fall of an organisation. Parameters for management control can be used as a parameter for mind control. We utilise those ideas for organising our mind. When we fail to control such parameters of mind, it leads to destruction in thinking process,

Factor 1: Hurried decisions results in worried results: Any mind which works in haste goes waste. Any decision taken without “thought analysis” always leads to unexpected results. So, to control our thinking process, never accelerate or become over-enthusiastic over certain actions. Analysing before every job using thinking minimises failure.
Factor 2: Over restriction in thinking makes it to fail during competing situations. Balance wandering and controlling process of mind.
Factor 3: Never control mind toward particular thought with compulsion. Thinking process can be diverted with aiding thought first and diverting slowly toward our required thought. This is achieved using meditation process.
Factor 4: When we fail to control our thoughts, we get obsessed with negative feeling. Revitalize yourself with positive thinking and repeat your formulated ideas.
Factor 5: Organised thinking: controlling thoughts towards particular action. Usually, we perform multiple actions in a day. This requires complete planning in directing our thought process. Failure to control our thoughts during action, results in failure in actions. This process improves concentration.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE FOR PEACEFUL LIVING: AUROVILLE

Countries in eastern part of the world are rich houses of spiritual and cultural heritage, while countries in western part are pioneers in science and technology. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul kalam, the former president of India, a philosopher and a scientist, describes a distinction between science and spirituality: “science is useful to people for making money, while spirituality encourages happiness in humanity”.

So, we can envisage a society where two distinct directions can be made to mingle, interact and live in harmony in a global colony, available at various parts of the world. Using this colony, people can discuss about their advancement in spirituality and science. They could dispel hatred due to religion using the spirituality.

With such initiative, we could develop a global brotherhood and a peaceful society using knowledge of material world and spiritual world. Such an initiative has been already taken in India which is known as “Auroville” started by Sri Aurobindo Ghose.

AUROVILLE:
After experiencing spiritual conversion while imprisoned for suspected terrorism against the British, Indian nationalist and philosopher Sri Aurobindo Ghose established an ashram (religious community) near Madras in southern India. It acts as disseminator of cosmic salvation through the evolution of the human spirit. The ashram is called “Auroville”. People can collect information by logging in at website

POWER OF MONEY

Two grandchildren came to their grandfather’s house after a long interval, for enjoying their summer holidays. Grandpa gave handful of money as "pocket money".

One grandson returned after his day enjoyment and explained, “Grandpa! I haven’t enjoyed in my life like this before, my father won’t provide even twenty parts of the pocket money you have provided. I went to cinema and enjoyed good lunch at a hotel. Thank you. My dear! Grandpa”.

Another grandson described his enjoyment with enthusiasm, “Grandfather, at first, I went to book fair to buy some intellectual books about self-development, career success, spirituality. Later, I understood our neighbours required some financial help, so I donated rest of the money to them. This is way I enjoyed my day”.

Grandfather queried, “Son, what sort of happiness you earned from doing such job?”.

grandson replied, “I earned some intrinsic happiness which knows no bounds. First, by buying some intellectual books, I would understand myself and success secrets through enlightenment of various philosophers across the world. Further, by helping a neighbour, I created a way for a joy which I would experience whenever our neighbours express their thankfulness through their smiles”.

The attitude and direction with which we express our riches, makes a difference in our life and others.

TECHNIQUES TO DEVELOP FARMERS OF INIDIA AND OTHER COUNTRIES

The suicide death of farmers in Vidarbah district of India and various other states disturbs every mind of people in the world. We people have food but we seek for hunger, but these unfortunate farmers not even have basic needs. While a portion of people develop, a major group topple down in their life which results in loss of peace in the society.

Only resource that can revolutionize their lives is knowledge. Knowledge of life, knowledge of living, knowledge of money, knowledge of resources, knowledge of education etc, can be made available to them, at free of cost. We observe that these farmers are very ignorant and lack simple knowledge in life and business. We being knowledgeable can disseminate our power of education to these villagers, to affect their life.

Globalisation and liberalisation have made the farmers more competitive and farmers require more technical knowledge, when dealing with farming and associated life activities. But, same terms can be used to bring knowledge and tools available across the world, for farmer development.

So, we can design a “knowledge centre” where people from various parts of the world can be linked through internet. This knowledge centres will be available in every village under a guidance of an educated member of non-profit organisation. These centres would teach simple techniques for earning money, with the help of altruistic entrepreneurs from various part of the world through the mediators in such centres. Simple financial credit knowledge, climatic pattern, type of seeds to be sown, government aiding policies, income opportunities, new genetic varieties of crops etc, will be apprised to these villagers using internet technologies.

Schools can train students not only in education, but also in vocational training. They can be called as “Vocational schools”. For example, the morning session can impart education and while in afternoon session, schools will become a small scale industry. The students will be provided with compensation for the job, they do. So, more number of students will be attracted towards school.

Who is going to manage such schools? Whether Government! No, the management will be a NGO of that village aided by charities of various philanthropic foundations.

The products can find its market all around India, if needed, across the world. We as a citizen of our country, have a job of encouraging such small entrepreneurs. Media can be utilised with the help of government to propagate the importance of such products across various parts of our country.

GOOD QUALITIES DESCRIBED IN VEDAS

Every religious books, seers and mystics describe same virtues and knowledge for personal and intellectual growth of human.
As Socrates says, “Truth is eternal”, what we are going to look in this post will be similar in all spiritual books.

Interpretation of good qualities from Vedas (oldest Hindu scriptures):
Swami Vivekananda discussed about vedas in his Chicago speech at The Parliament of Religions at 1893:
“The Hindus have received their religion through revelation, the Vedas. They believe that the Vedas are without beginning and without end. They are the accumulated treasury of spiritual laws discovered by different persons in different times. Just as the law of gravitation existed before its discovery, and would exist if all humanity forgot it, so is it with the laws that govern the spiritual world. The moral, ethical, and spiritual relations between soul and soul and between individual spirits and the Father of all spirits, were there before their discovery, and would remain even if we forgot them”.
The four Vedas are the Rig-Veda, the Sama-Veda, the Yajur-Veda, and the Atharva-Veda.

GOOD QUALITIES PRESCRIBED IN VEDAS
· Tireless effort
· Pleasing nature
· Absolute faith
· Utter humility
· Fearlessness
· Discriminating wisdom
· Austerity
· Up righteousness
· Truthfulness
· Compassion
· Non-violence
· Determination to pursue the truth

PEACE OF MIND IS THE ESSENCE OF LIFE

There is no loss in life except three immeasurable qualities – peace of mind, character, and attitude.

Mr. kumar started as an employee in a Multi-National company. He felt his future depended only on amount of money he accumulates. So, he worked hard to earn better position in company in order to draw higher salary. He promoted much of his time in acquiring more knowledge and learning; sparing less time with his family. He developed in his life, and had a fat amount in his bank account.
Unfortunately, one day he met with an accident which crippled his limbs by which he became handicapped and the treatment required so large amount that he lost most of them, he had earned. Followed by his father’s health treatment, the account became meagre. He lost his job, because he was a handicap. He felt that he has lost everything in his life, and nothing is left to exist.
Losing his mental stability, he committed suicide. But by God’s guidance, he was saved by his family members.
His spiritually aligned friend provided him a set of books to change his attitude. He dissolved himself with the books, since it answered every problem, his mind was bearing. He acquired knowledge about life and its importance and learned “How to acquire happiness in nothing”.
He practised meditation. He understood himself and analysed his competence. He discovered that money which was used as a motivating factor was the reason for all these miseries. Now he replaced the factor “money” by “peace of mind with attitude”. He returned back as he was earlier but with a difference, his aim was to achieve peace of mind.
With the knowledge he had acquired earlier, he started himself as an internet entrepreneur. Even with loss of legs, he enjoyed good income with the warm guidance of his family.
He started to donate excess earning towards underprivileged. He felt as if, he was on the top of the world, by providing happiness in the life of the needy.
Never in rest of his life, he moved by riches, but he was always attracted towards attitude and character.
Ability will get you success; character will keep you successful.

MOTHER : THE INCARNATION OF LOVE

A widowed mother and son lived by loving each other. On seeing their selfless affection, an angel got pleased and went to offer a boon. Inorder to test them, Angel blessed any one with treasure . Mother requested son, “Son, you own the treasure!”. But son replied, “No mom! You have the treasure”. Then the mother queried, “Son, what is the difference between you having the money and I?”. Son replied, “Mom! If something happens to me, because of my immaturity I would leave you. But Mom, Even if something happens to you, you won’t leave me!”.
Angel on seeing the good attitude of the son and the mother blessed both with riches.

It is a worldly belief that every greatest man is groomed from their parents. Motherly affection can be considered as “spiritual”, which is endowed in mind of every woman. Even lower intelligent animals express such motherly qualities to their children.
Never in history or in future, could we expect a mother inflicting pain on her child? Never a chick would die when hen stamps it.

A mother feeds food to her child, only after she checks its quality and purity by consuming it. A mother tests her child with complete protection and guidance by her. This nurtures mental competence of the child.
A WONDERFUL MOTHER.

GOD made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He molded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks, fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE OF LIFE

An educated man was sailing in a boat with a layman rowing the boat. The educated man asked boastfully to the layman, “Whether you read books? Do you know anything about science and technology?”. But the layman replied silently in low voice, “I am not aware of it”. Then educated man asked in humiliating voice, “At least, you have any idea, how this boat floats in water?”. Layman replied, “No sir!”.
The boat got crack as it hit on a sharp rock, due to strong stream. The water started to enter into the boat and the boat was about to capsize. The layman asked the educated man, “Do you know to swim?”. The educated man answered, “No!”. The layman replied, “But I know how to swim in water effectively”.

Later, the story ends with the layman saving the educated man with his simple practical knowledge of swimming.
We don’t require education about everything to exist in world, but we require some basic practical ideas to swim in life. Basic knowledge involves idea about character formation, thought and mind behaviours, rules of life etc; this can provide other knowledge needed for existence.

Andrew Carnegie, a richest industrialist and philanthropist, describes success as: “success is a state of mind, along with application of certain basic principles like having a definite purpose in life, aligning with knowledgeable people, attractive personality, faith in your aim and talents, initiative, self-discipline, creativity and imagination, organized thinking, positive attitude towards defeat, etc”.

Pervasive being has provided every earthly being with certain talents to exist in world. Even a calf struck in strong current in river knows how to save its life, even without training through swimming coach. But, we should utilise those talents to develop others and satisfy our basic necessities. So, by sharing our talents with others, we can at least help them to exist in this competitive world.

His life teaches us how to succeed in life and a guidance in character formation.

During his childhood, Mr. Narayana Moorthy was motivated about the importance of education by his parents. His father would often quote to him, “Only education will help you in your later life”.

During his college days, his interaction with an American computer scientist helped him to identify the opportunity India has in the software industry. He usually worked nearly 20 hours a day to gain ideas about computer technology.

A group of engineers in “Patni Computers” (a company where Narayana Moorthy worked initially before starting Infosys), got interested in Narayana Moorthy's attitude and his competence, joined with him to start a software company. This led to the birth of Infosys.

Initially Infosys faced with many difficulties because of the economical restrictions prevailing in Indian market at late eighties. But, after 1992, where trade policies were relaxed in India during Mr. Narashima Rao (then Prime Minister of India) regime, Infosys started to grow in exponential rate.

With highly new management techniques introduced by Narayana Moorthy, Infosys became a Multi-national company. He introduced ideas like distribution of company’s shares to his employees, by which workers were motivated to work harder, employee friendly approach, priority towards the marketing side etc,

Even though, he was listed as one of the richest person in the India, still he lives in an apartment in Bangalore which is managed by him and his wife, Mrs. Sudha Moorthy. He is a strict follower of Gandian Principles. Mr. Narayana Moorthy feels, “Money we earn, once satisfies our basic needs, the excess amount we gained should be utilised for the development of indigent people”. So, he started Infosys Foundation with Mrs. Sudha Moorthy as its head. This foundation helps in uplifting village environment by providing better school and library facilities, basic amenities to the needy etc,

Narayana Moorthy advises young minds as follows, “Develop world class talents in a particular field, then world will accolade you and lay down its riches in your feet”. He believes students with fresh minds, can revolutionize the society with their creativity.

POWER OF EDUCATION

A working class labour representative went to his king and exclaimed, “These ministers don’t even work as we do, but they draw higher income than us. What unfairness on your part, my Lord!”. In order to defuse the dilemma, the king decided to keep a test. He requested the labour representative to weigh an elephant available in his kingdom within an hour. The labourer returned stating, “Pardon me, my Lord! I roamed around our kingdom, but I couldn’t find even a single physical balance as big as massive elephant, to weigh it”. Then the king directed to a minister to identify the weight. The minister returned within an hour stating the weight of the elephant. The labourer asked the minister in low voice, “How do you identify the weight of the elephant?”. Minister replied, “It’s simple. First I allowed the elephant to enter into an empty boat. I calculated amount by which the boat had sunk in water do to its weight. Later, I added known mass of rocks to the empty boat, until its depression became equivalent to the boat with elephant. That’s it”. King replied, “That is the difference!”.

Money gained through manual tasks will be so minimal and suitable only for daily sustenance. But, money through knowledge and intelligence will generate large amount, which will be useful to us and others. So, we have to provide knowledge and intelligence to below poverty line people, in order to uplift their life.
Donations and gifts will not change the life of the deprived people, but knowledge in the right direction will change their life. If we provide a fish to under-privileged, it will be helpful for a day. But, if we teach them fishing, it will be useful for him rest of his life.

not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will." - Vince Lombardi

POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE

In Great Indian epic, Mahabarata, author Acharya Vyasa gives us an idea about positive thinking. In this epic, Five Pandavas are heroes (because of the sort of mind they possess) while Gauravas where villains (because of the sort of mind they posses), however, both Pandavas and Gauravas where cousins.

Yudhisthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva were the five Pandavas while Gauravas were hundred in number with Duruyodana as elder brother. During their younger age, Gauravas and Pandavas got their education from Dronacharya in his hermitage.

One day, Dronacharya requested Arjuna (smartest of the pandavas) and Duruyodana to identify one noble person in nearby village. After a week, Duruyodana returned stating that he was unable to identify any virtuous personality in the village. However, Arjuna returned with saying that he identified so many good men that it was difficult for him to specify.

Power of positive thinking can be asset to one, who practises it. Sub-conscious mind is the one which initiates creativity, empowers will-power, habit formation, etc. Our sub-conscious mind is so powerful than our conscious mind. Sub-conscious mind has a peculiar property of accepting, whatever we add to it, without reasoning, unlike conscious mind. So, when we make a commitment of practising positive thinking everywhere, every instance, then this becomes a habit and remains with us without our conscious effort.

THREE PONDS OF HORROR

There was an intelligent king, with a vision to propagate his popularity to the rest of the world. So, he constructed three ponds surrounding his kingdom and started to rear a special kind of fishes in it. These fishes had a special kind of suckers (similar to mosquito), by which it can such blood from humans and animals. But, the special quality of the fish is that, the sucking of blood creates a special feeling depending on the pond,

Pond1: It creates a sensation to humans, as if; they are floating in the air.

Pond 2: It creates a dream as if, he was a millionaire.

Pond 3: It generats a sensation of love.

Citizens without understanding the cause of the ecstasy, they started to migrate in flocks towards the pond to enjoy bath.

King yielded profit by fishing at night time. He introduced revolutionary free meal scheme to school children.

Unemployment reduced because work which needed less number of people was now requiring large number of people, due to loss of energy through blood.

The revolutionary action of the king started to spread across the country as a forest fire.

Moral: From this story, we find an analogy with present situation by comparing the ponds with,

Pond 1: Government aided wine shop,

Pond 2: Lottery shops,

Pond 3: Cinema and T.V. channels.

POWER OF HUMANS

"It takes a strong fish to swim against the current. But, even a dead one can float with current." - John Crowe

A sage informed his countrymen that he has discovered a powerful god which can transform their life. People started to gather around his house, to seek blessing from the powerful soul. The sage requested the people to enter into one of his room. The people startled to see that the room was full of mirror, through which they can see them and their neighbours. The sage replied, “The people you view inside the room are actually the God, I was mentioning about. I couldn’t find a much powerful thing in this world than human beings. Union of human towards a particular motive develops a force, which can transform life of many people. That is a reason, why god takes his birth in human body rather than an animal body, when needs come”.

Swami Vivekananda, a great Indian saint says, “If I could find devoted, industrious human beings, I could transform whole world”.

Similarly, care should be taken when dealing with human beings, if they are mould in the right direction, they will be a productive citizen. Otherwise, they could grown into a dangerous destroying force.

ATTITUDE CHANGES YOUR LIFE

There was a handicapped, dumb beggar seeking money from people. He had a written note stating, “Because, I am having difficulties in life, Please! Help me”. But the amount he earned was meagre. Now a small educated boy moved by beggar’s pathetic situation, went to help him. Now he replaced the written note as below: “In order to revolutionize and promote my life, provide your contributions”. Now, compared to previous note, this fetched him better amount, using which he started a small phone booth.

How we view the world makes the difference in our life. Similarly, how we utilize the difficulties, describes our destination.

Attitude plays an important role in life.

For attitude development:

Start to act, as if, you are with positive attitude within yourself at every instance, every time, and every place. Continue your actions, until you feel it has become your habit.

THOUGHTS DETERMINES CHARACTER

WORDS TO THINK:
ENDURANCE IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT DISCIPLINES, BUT IT IS TO THE ONE WHO ENDURES THAT THE FINAL VICTORY COMES

– THE BUDDHA

A rough paper got an opportunity to speak with a paper in a spiritual book. The rough paper asked eagerly, “Why people are praising you and placing near the God’s feet?” The paper in the spiritual book replied, “It is the quality of the content, I have!”

Moral: We will be praised or humiliated, depending on the type of thoughts, we possess.

Fill the paper of thoughts with good inscriptions, world will accolade you. Material riches gives only externally induced pleasure which will dissipate soon. But, a controlled positive thought intrinsically induces pleasure, which last forever.

HUMAN TENDENCY

A young saint and an old matured saint were trekking in a wild forest. The old saint observed an ant struggling in the water. The old saint took pity on it and left his finger in water, so that the ant would climb and save itself. Unfortunately, the ant bit the old saint. Yelling with pain, he shook his hand, the ant again fell into the water.

Now understanding its behaviour, the old saint used stick to save the life of the ant.

Seeing this, the young saint asked with eagerness, “Why are you saving this ant, which pricked you?”

The old saint replied, “It is the tendency of the ant to prick others, but it is human tendency to save others”.

Moral: Even when others degrade you, think, it is their tendency to ridicule but, it is your character to think of goodness about them.

SMILE PLEASE: On explaining this story to his students, a teacher asked, "What do you infer from this story?". One student stood and answered, "Ants bite!!".

MODERN EDUCATION IN INDIA AT 2020

Below I have given ideas which I had developed for my paper presentation. Article is about education in India in 2020

TEACHER TRAINING IN SPECIAL TEACHING: Teachers are given extra training in knowledge acquisition, disseminating the importance of education to their student’s parents, character building in students etc, Primary school teachers will be motivated to inculcate simple values, critical basic knowledge through games, stories, and songs to their students. Teachers are imperative in the primary schooling where they have to identify the talent, learning difficulties within children (dyslexic child), guidance, counselling etc, for this teacher forums and networking of rural and urban schools using wireless networking technologies will aid. Parents of rural children are motivated towards importance of education.

PRACTICAL LEARNING USING VIRTUAL REALITY AND ANIMATIONS: One of the major scientific technologies which will affect teaching is virtual reality (A 3D physical environment using auditory and visual stimuli with and within which somebody can interact to affect what happens in the stimulation). Gaming experience and stimulated physical environment using 3D animation motivate easy learning process. By advancement in this technology, video conferencing can be made more realistic. Animation Software can be used to describe complex scientific concepts using simple animations. More user-friendly software enables development of animations by the students for their student community.

AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGY PROPOGATED TO RURAL AREAS: Next decade could experience a dip in agriculture output due to dip in farm lands and migration of farmers from rural to urban area. So, technology has to lend its hand to compensate this deficit. Political leaders and media personalities will be utilised to disseminate the opportunity in agriculture using internet. Farmers and students of rural schools are apprised with better farming techniques guided with the research scholars in agriculture from all around the country through network facility.

SOCIAL INTERACTION LEARNING: Forums and student community websites will be increased using which student from rest of the India communicates with student in rural areas. Motivated student train the rural students through forums and video conferencing, aiding in greater exposure to urban and rural students. Idea sharing occurs between motivated students through competitions, discussions etc, which enhances creativity of rural children.
